Baby and nursery update 17 1/2 weeks!

I had my monthly appointment yesterday! A med student came in to listen to the heartbeat and had a little trouble finding it at first. But, soon it was loud and clear! The baby was moving around a LOT! We heard lots of swishes and that's apparently what that means. I think I can feel the baby move sometimes. But, I also have a VERY rumbly stomach. So, it could be anything.

We've finished painting the nursery! AND, we've bought a crib, armoire, and dresser! We got an amazing deal on it all! The crib was delivered yesterday! Thankfully it was a floor display from the place down the street. So, no assembly required! Woo hoo! I know that putting the crib together is some kind of rite of passage. But, I think we can do without that one particular experience.

We've got 9 more days until we find out the sex of the baby! Boy or girl??

Pre-baby Date Night!

It's pretty rare that Aaron and I have a non-Sunday night off together. So, last night we got to have a Thursday night out! YAY! You know I love getting wined and dined!
We checked out SLICE. It's a new pizza place in Lakeview where the oyster house used to be. The brothers who own Sols on Morris Avenue opened it. It's REALLY good!

Then we went to Little Savannah for dessert! Fresh fruit, chocolate mousse, and creme brulee!

Bump N' Grind 2011: GO AARON!

Aaron and I borrowed bikes from our friends Holly and Chris a year and a half ago for a scavenger hunt here in downtown Bham. We had SO much fun riding around that day that we decided to scout out craigslist for some bikes of our own. I ended up with a really awesome road bike that I use to get back and forth to UAB and a few other places. Aaron ended up with a mountain bike. Since then, he's had a new love in his life... mountain biking! He's a natural at it and has really gotten good over this last year. He spends a lot of his time riding up at Oak Mountain and at a few other trails. Yesterday he did his first race. He placed third in his age class at Bump N' Grind! I was on the sidelines with my cowbell being the dorky wife that I am. :)

He would have placed second if he were already in the age class he'll be in next year. Can't wait for all of the races and wins to come! GO AARON!

Sidenote: Now, I must rant about a newly-made foe. Some extremely unattractive guy in the "expert" category ignored the warnings of three volunteers while trying to go up a trail in the opposite direction of some kids and other racers that were about to come through. I was the last person in his way before he got to the bridge. I said "Dude, there are some kids that are about to come through here." He replied "Girl, I'm fast. I could run you over in a second and put you in that ditch." So, I'm pretty sure that he got a good dose of karmic retribution. In fact, I'm pretty certain that he did a nosedive later that day on blood rock. Maybe those gangly teeth of his will get some much-needed surgery... Ugh... what a jerk.
